Paul Armitage
Paul has had a long career in horticulture in research and management. After the experience of supporting a family member experiencing mental distress, Paul developed an interest in the ways in which mental distress is framed in society. Paul’s honours project was a policy analysis which investigated how Australian governments construct the social position of the family mental health carer. Paul is now undertaking a PhD candidature at Latrobe University with a focus on human rights and coercive practices in mental health systems. Paul’s project is investigating variation in the application rates of community treatment orders in area mental health services in Victoria Australia.
