Fostering human rights and social justice in mental health. For everyone.

We gather information about the lived experiences of coercion and discrimination in mental health care and highlight services and practices that are more equitable, based on user-led, social justice, human rights, and intersectional approaches.

In the project, Realizing Human Rights and Social Justice in Mental Health we gather information about the lived experiences of coercion and discrimination in mental health care and highlight services and practices that are more equitable, based on user-led, social justice, human rights, and intersectional approaches.

Through collaboration with organizations led by people with lived experience, Realizing Human Rights and Social Justice in Mental Health works to bring mental health policy in Canada, Australia, and Kenya in alignment with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) human rights framework. We apply critical mental health perspectives and intersectional, social justice, and human rights frameworks in our research on mental health policy and practice.
